Upload your Shop Contents To Google Base

Google Base is where Google allows you to upload your products so that they will appear on the shopping links in Google.

Once uploaded, a correctly named and described product can appear right at the top of the search results where it says - Shopping Results for xx xxx

All ecommerce shop sites should find this to be very useful, but especially new website's as they can see their shop contents show up on Google almost straight away. Looking at the impressions and clickthroughs that your shop products get from Google Base can easily help you to understand what you should be doing in more general terms when naming and describing your products.

Submitting Your Ecommerce Website Inventory to Google Base

Whilst Google Base does have many help pages for store owners, we have put together a visual display of uploading from your website to Google Base

Open a Google Base account or log into an existing one. If you already upload via an eBay store connector - you will need a new Google Base account unless you want your ecommerce shop products to overwrite the eBay store connector products. (see NB below)

Open A Google Base Account

NB : It may not be a good idea to have two uploads to Google Base offering the same products. Google Base has been known to refuse this and also you don't want to compete with yourself in the Google Base shopping search results. We think it is best anyway to try and drive traffic to your ecommerce website than to your eBay shop.

Google Base See Items

This assumes that you have already saved the text file from the administration area of your shopping cart website. Instructions on how to do this are also in the administration area.

Manual Upload

Items that have been upload to Google Base normally take around an hour to show live. Google Base will notify you if there are any errors.

Browse for File

That's it ! Done. Don't forget to upload to Google Base every 30 days and in between those times - keep an eye on your data feed performance.
